Description
The panda is one of the world's most endangered species. It is estimated that there are somewhere around 700 and 1,000 giant pandas still alive in the wild. Because they rely on bamboo as their main food they will remain in danger unless their habitat is expanded. The differing varieties of bamboo go through periodic die-offs as part of their renewal cycle. Without the ability to move into new areas that have not been affected many Pandas will starve to death. When die-offs occur the bears that do try to find a new place to feed often run into farmers and pochers.
Painted with Intuos 3 in Photoshop CS2.

Nice topic and a good expression in the panda's face. Good movement in the chains, but the human's hand looks like a thick log, so I think the wrist coulf have been tightened in a bit.

@Jane: yes, I know about the log/hand, you are right. I did intentionally try to shift the balance away from him and over to the panda partly by simplifying him, but I guess I sort of overdid the underdetailing.

One crit: Those mountains are in fact really small because of how you added distance in the grass area.

Great composition.
Still... the colours look a bit odd - the green hue gives a strange indefinite impression (especially in the sky). Some colour contrasts may boost the value of the image.
Anyway, if properly adjusted, this image could be used in a Panda-saving campaign, because it is really expressive.
My opinion
